HDAS classes are held on Saturdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Houston Dental Assistant School is pleased to present the TSBDE approved Dental Assistant registration course and exam on Friday, October 3, 2008 in cooperation with the Texas Academy of General Dentistry and Dr. Robert Cooley. State Board Registration is REQUIRED of all Texas Dental Assistants who take x-rays after September 1, 2007. To become registered, you will need to take and pass a TSBDE approved course and examination covering required objectives in Jurisprudence, Infection Control and Radiology. New hires have one year from the date of hire to register provided any x-rays taken are under the direct supervision of a Dentist. The goal of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry's Dental Assistant Course is to provide sufficient information to permit dental assistants to gain knowledge and understanding of the critical concepts associated with each of these areas of certification in order to facilitate success in the examination. Dental Assisting 100 Introduction to Dental Assisting Provides an introduction to dentistry; establishes fundamentals of the dental assisting profession; licensure, the dental team, and dental specialties. The student will learn: roles of the dental assistant; specialty fields of dentistry; dental terminology; areas of the dental office; equipment; treatment rooms; sterilization center, and laboratory. Dental Assisting 101 Anatomy and Physiology Students will examine the anatomy of the head and neck and structure and function of the oral cavity for patient assessment. Registered Dental Assistant CE Credit Courses: For those already registered. The Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE) requires Dental Assistants to complete a minimum of 6 hours of Continuing Education (CE) credits per year to renew their RDA license. The course must cover the topics of Standards of Care, Infection Control and Jurisprudence. Other topics are not accepted by the TSBDE for RDA renewal. The CE credits must be offered by an approved course provider. Houston Dental Assistant School is an Approved Course Provider.
