Houston Dental Assistant School is pleased to present the TSBDE approved Dental Assistant registration course and exam on Friday, March 16, 2012 in cooperation with the Texas Academy of General Dentistry and Dr. Robert Cooley. State Board Registration is REQUIRED of all Texas Dental Assistants who take x-rays after September 1, 2007. To become registered, you will need to take and pass a TSBDE approved course and examination covering required objectives in Jurisprudence, Infection Control and Radiology. New hires have one year from the date of hire to register provided any x-rays taken are under the direct supervision of a Dentist. The goal of the Texas Academy of General Dentistry's Dental Assistant Course is to provide sufficient information to permit dental assistants to gain knowledge and understanding of the critical concepts associated with each of these areas of certification in order to facilitate success in the examination. Skilled and experienced Dental Assistants in the highest 10% salary range earned $46,150 annually in 2008.*

Tuition is $2850.00 and includes all you need. We have just updated our program and it includes all the extras. There are no hidden fees or costs. We pay for your health care workers CPR; study guides and exam to become a Registered Dental Assistant. We are the best value dental assisting program in the area. Choose one of the four payment plans: $2850.00 on or before the first day of class. $1350.00 deposit, $175.00 at the beginning of the first 9 classes (9 payments). Dental Assistants

The Dental Assistant professional is a key member of the dental health care team. If you have good communication skills, enjoy working with your hands and your mind and want the responsibility and rewards of a professional career, dental assisting is for you. The best way to become a dental assistant is to receive formal training. Our program provides education that is based on the latest procedures and techniques.

As a Dental Assistant you will perform a variety of patient care and laboratory duties. Depending on the office you may:

Work chair-side as the dentists examine and treat patients;
Hand instruments and materials to dentists, keep patients' mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices;
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare tray setups for dental procedures;
Prepare materials for making impressions and restorations;
Expose radiographs and process dental x-ray film as directed by a dentist;
Comfort patients in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, obtain dental records;
Instruct patients on postoperative and general health care;
Perform office duties including scheduling, insurance coding and billing, telephone.

Working Conditions

Dental assistants work in a well-lighted, clean environment.
Their work area is usually near the dental chair where they can work with the dentist and patient when needed.
Virtually all dental assistants work in a private dental office.
A small number work in dental schools, hospitals, public health departments, or clinics.

Following your training in this ten-week course at Houston Dental Assistant School, you will have the confidence and skills necessary to apply for dental assisting positions. Our dental assisting course is designed to give our students maximum "hands-on" training in a real dental office. Upon graduation, you'll be ready to enter a field with great job opportunities and rapid employment growth.

Classes are held Saturdays only for 10 weeks, from 8 to 5. At this dental assisting school, the courses are taught by practicing dental assistants from around Houston. Graduate s receive a certificate and are prepared to become a Registered Dental Assistant. A Registered Dental Assistant must first pass the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners Radiology, Jurisprudence and Infection Control exams. Our program and study guides are designed to help you pass those exams.
