The format
Dental assistant training built around people who already have a job, a family, or both — one day in person, the rest on your own time.
Four hours in a real dental office, in a group of four or five. You work with the instruments, the operatory and the procedures you'll use on the job — not a simulation of them.
Four to five hours of on-demand lecture each week, watched whenever suits you. Pause it, rewind it, watch it at midnight after the kids are down.

Licensed and approved
HDAS is a licensed dental assistant school in Houston, regulated by the Texas Workforce Commission. The program meets every state requirement to sit the certified Registered Dental Assistant exam.

Before you apply
Three things. No dental experience among them — most of our students start with none.
A US high school diploma, GED, or college transcript. Foreign diplomas need validating by a service such as SpanTran.
You'll need to be at least 17. If you're under 18, we'll need written consent from a parent or guardian.
A Social Security Number, or a TIN together with a valid work permit.

Because our dental assistant classes are held in a working dental office rather than a classroom, most of your time is spent doing the work rather than hearing about it. Lectures move to your own schedule, which frees Saturdays entirely for hands-on training.
None. Most students arrive with no dental background at all. You need a high school diploma or equivalent, and a willingness to get your hands in someone's mouth.
That's what the format is for. Lectures are on demand and lab is Saturdays only — most of our students work full time while they train.

You take the TSBDE state certification exam, which is already paid for in your tuition. Passing it makes you a Registered Dental Assistant.
