Why students choose HDAS

1

Ten weeks, no unpaid externship

Other programs run 12 weeks and finish with unpaid hours in someone else's practice. Ours doesn't. You're hands-on in a real dental office from week one, and you're done two weeks sooner.

Real operatories every Saturday · 4–5 students per instructor

2

Finish with the credential, not just a certificate

Ten weeks in, you sit the Texas state exam and walk out a Registered Dental Assistant. The prep course and the exam are both included in tuition.

TSBDE registration course & exam included

3

One price. Graduate debt-free.

$3,550 covers books, supplies, healthcare-provider CPR, study guides, and your state exam. Pay in full, or put $975 down and finish over 10 weekly drafts.

No lender. No loan. No surprise charges at week eight.

4

Family-owned for 20+ years. Not a franchise.

Your TSBDE state certification exam is included

After you graduate, you take the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners Certification exam — the one that makes you a Registered Dental Assistant. It's already paid for in your $3,550 tuition, so there's no separate registration and no surprise fee at the finish line.

Job hunting starts in week 3, not week 10. Your resume, the hidden job market, and interview practice all run alongside the clinical work — so you're ready to apply the week you finish.

What happens after you graduate

Job hunting isn't something we bolt on at the end — it runs through the middle of the course, while you're still learning.

Your resume, built in class

We start in week 3 and keep working on it through week 6 — including how to find the roles that never get advertised.

Interview preparation

What practices actually ask, and how to answer when you're new. You'll have practised before you need it.

Placement support

Our directors know practices across Houston and stay in touch with them. When roles open, our graduates hear about them.

A field that's hiring

Dental assistant roles are projected to grow 6% through 2034, with about 52,900 openings a year nationally.

Our directors stay in touch with practices across Houston — several of our students are hired by the very offices they trained in.

Se habla Español

You can do this whole program in Spanish

  • Spanish-speaking instructors in every Saturday lab — ask questions in the language you think in.
  • Spanish captions on every lecture — pause, rewind and re-read on your own schedule.
  • Spanish on the phone, any hour — call and you'll be answered in Spanish, even outside office hours.

Opening January 2027

Our Pearland campus opens for the Winter session, and it replaces our Clear Lake campus in Webster — same program, same team, same tuition, about 20 minutes further west. If you're currently enrolled at Clear Lake, your director will be in touch directly.

Enrolling for Winter now. Tours at Pearland begin in December — visit Clear Lake before then and you'll meet the same team.

Students drive to Pearland from all over

Because class is one day a week, a longer Saturday drive is easier than it sounds. Our Pearland campus draws from across the south side — and if you trained with us at Clear Lake, Pearland is about 20 minutes further west along FM 518.

Common questions

Is this the same as dental hygiene?

No — we train dental assistants, not dental hygienists. Hygiene requires a two-year associate degree and a separate license. Dental assisting takes ten Saturdays here, and you work chairside alongside the dentist.

How far do students travel to Pearland?

Further than you'd expect. Our Pearland students come from League City, Pasadena, Friendswood and Pearland — because it's one Saturday a week rather than five weekdays, a longer drive works out far better than it sounds.

Is 10 weeks really long enough?

Yes — and starting pay doesn't depend on how long you spent in school. Our program covers the same skills and the same state RDA exam as longer courses, in a format built around one hands-on Saturday a week. You finish two weeks sooner and start earning two weeks earlier.

Will I train in a real dental office?

Yes. Every Saturday lab takes place at Kirby Smiles in Pearland — real operatories, real equipment, real experience.

How much is tuition?

$3,550 all in — textbook, materials, study guides, healthcare-provider CPR and the TSBDE state RDA exam. Plans start with a $975 deposit.

Do I need any experience?

None. Most students start with no dental background. You need a high school diploma, GED, or 12+ college credit hours.

Can I keep working?

That's the point of the format. Lectures are on demand during the week and lab is Saturdays only — most of our students work full time.

What if I live far from Pearland?

Students drive in from across the region — some more than an hour. Because it's one day a week rather than five, the distance works out far better than a daily commute.
